I am going to replace my old Motosat Executive with a dome covered dish. Can the dome be mounted in front of the front A/C where the old Motosat is located or would it be better behind the front A/C?

Mounting it where the old Motosat is located will let me cover up some holes and re-use the cable hole. The down side, I think, may be extra wind noise up front.

HI TOM AND LAUREL,

I'VE HAD THREE DIFERENT SATELITE DOMES IN THE FRONT LOCATION YOU MENTION AND HAVE NEVER ASSOCIATED ANY EXTRA WIND NOISE WITH THEM. THE FIRST TWO WERE THE LARGE KVH UNITS AND NOW I HAVE ONE OF THE 12" HIGH LOW PROFILE KINGDOME UNITS. BY THE WAY, I LIKE IT MUCH BETTER THAN THE KVH UNITS I'VE HAD - FOR SEVERAL REASONS.

Tom:
Our first Alpine WAS 2000. We had the open type MOTOSAT MOUNTED BY THE FACTORY UP FRONT OF THE FRONT a/c/. The Motosat bounced in the stowed position and sounded like a hammer on the ceiling. Motosat said the had told WRV never to mount it there cause of the noise. We had it moved behind the first a/c and no more noise. Our 03 Alpine has a KVH automatic domed type. It is mounted up front and no noise at all. Dont think much of the KVH however.
