Question Mysterious Green LED

Recently upgraded from a 98 to an 05 Alpine. In the bedroom, mounted in a blank panel above the dresser drawers is a small LED with a white collar, about a half inch in diameter. It occasionally flickers green. Most of the time it's off.

What is it? What does it monitor?

Thanks in advance.

Its a ir repeater for the tv. It sends the ir signal from the bedroom to the equipment cabinet next to the tv in the front. It allows you to control your satellite receiver

Old Navy,
We also have a 05, and the only green light in our bedroom is on the carbon monoxide detector, could it be something a previous owner added to notify that the invertor is on or that the batteries are charged fully?? just a thought...I guess as long as it is green, and not red, that should be a good thing..right?? I am sure you will get some other suggestions!! Mike.

If it's on the panel with the drawers below and the tv above it, then tinytom is right. When I replaced the front tv and we found the rabbit's nest of wiring behind the old tv, we ripped everything out and in doing so completely wiped out the repeater system. No big deal in my opinion - never used it, don't miss it.

I too believe it is the IR repeater that lets you control the satellite receiver up front. The light in mine seems closer to blue than green. It will occasionally flash when the bedroom flourscent light is turned on. You can verify it is an ir repeater by pointing any infrared remote toward it and and pushing any button. You probably also have one above up front. Mine is above the right surrount speaker,

Good info all. Your comments disclosed the truth. The light was the repeater for the sat system which was removed by previous owner. No worries
Many thanks.
