Mike, you might try turning the switch on and start pulling fuses one by one to see what circuit it's on. If it' a draw on chassis batteries, it probably isn't compartment lights. Have you tried it in the dark and looked for lights? One guess might be to turn on the back up lights to illuminate your toad or behind RV.

I have a rocker switch in the same exact spotů but it's not lighted, just black with white ON and OFF letters. Mine works the overhead dome lights above the dash. (2005 38FDTS)

Thanks Dave, it's interesting. My dome lights over the dash don't work. I never gave them much thought.

Just a dumb thought what about fog lights ? the only other switch like that is the water heater.

FYI the dome lights, at least on 05s, work off the vertical knob that controls dash light intensity. Push it past the "detent" and it should click on the dome lights.
Enjoy tracing down the other switch wiring..
