Need new muffler
We have a 2005 Alpine 36 FDDS 400 Cummins and need to get a muffler. Has anyone replaced theirs? Make, model, part number? Thank you.

here are my notes accumulated from years of too much time on my hands:
exhaust muffler = Fleetguard #86542, the lower straps (2ea req'd for OEM config) of the muffler hanger = Nelson number: Q27375, Fleetguard number: 3918230-S. From Ryder Fleet Products 1-800-759-6479 Fleet Products | Heavy Duty Truck Parts, Repair Tools, Safety Products) muffler part# NEL86542M, $140.00, clamps part # NEL90868A (not sure of the date of that price quote). This is what comes up @ Ryder if I put in the NEL86542M number in search.
Or you can get it fit w/an Aero type muffler, the linked one is 3", your pipe is probably 4", might be 5", but you'll need to measure it or have the shop verify prior to ordering. Clamps & hangers are by your local muffler shop; they usually do that on the fly w/scrap. If a shop tells you they can only replace it w/an OEM unit, find a better muffler shop that knows their business and isn't afraid of the job.

take a look at Aero mufflers, increase MPG & power a lot less restrictive.

Aero muffler is probably a good replacement option but I think I would miss the traditional Alpine roar--nothing sounds like an Alpine--just saying.....

.....13 years, 150k miles--the sound of an older Alpine -- "priceless"
