New Induction Cooktop

I searched the threads but could not find where anyone has converted gas to Induction cooking.

We are beginning a fairly substantial remodel of our Apex. Big on the wife list is replacing the countertops and installing an induction cooktop. I have read there is an outlet behind the drawers for the dishwasher - which we have installed. If so, is this a double outlet and will the circuit support an Induction cooktop. The dishwasher is on its own circuit so it would seem it could handle one more device?.

Also, has anyone replaced their countertops? Did you use 3/8" solid surface such as came with the coach? What issues (if any) did you encounter. Greatly appreciate any input. You may PM me if you need to discuss it more. Thanks.

This is what we did. Hope it will help!

If you have any questions please send me a PM. I won't be monitoring this thread.

You can go to the green search box at the upper right that says "Powered by Google" and type in "induction cooktops". That will keep you reading for a while!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Bob, we removed the propane cooktop and replaced it with a 2 burner induction top, Bobbi had a 4 burner in our home on the Cape and loved it so much she wanted one on the coach. We used a portable one on the trip to Alaska and she was convinced. I built a plywood base that slides in where the Atwood cook top was because she wanted to be able to take it outside, however after thinking about having it loose we came to our senses and I bolted it down, now we use the portable if we want to cook outside.

FWIW the two burner induction cooktops that will work on a 20A circuit share the power between the two burners and neither one can draw a full 1800W. IMO that would be a showstopper for me. With 1800 watts of power our induction burners (we have two) are exceedingly powerful and that's nice when you're boiling a pot of water for pasta, corn, lobsters, etc.

Years ago we extended our washing machine circuit into the kitchen so we could access a second 20A circuit to power our cooking devices. With our large kitchen we have enough counter space for two countertop induction burners. I realize this won't work for everyone, but I'd hate to be dependent on a two burner induction cooktop only capable of ~1300W on one burner.
