I'm going to change both TV's in my 2004 MDDS , not quit sure how they come out and could use some help with info on the front overhead TV

Do you have the plasma monitor that was the option that year, or the standard tube TV? Or something else, which the previous owner might have changed?

I have the plasma, and can answer questions about it. There are likely 4 screws (square drive) holding on the black metal screen under the TV. Then there are 4 hex head bolts that bolt the TV to a metal frame from the back. There are white plastic spacers between the frame and the plasma.

The plasma is pretty heavy, unlike LED flat screens, so you need two people to remove it. One to hold it, and one to remove the bolts from the back. They were probably 1/4-20 or 5/16ths bolts. Or they might be metric, I don't recall. They are easy to spot once that screen is removed. And if you are the guy holding it, make sure the guy removing the bolts works fast, and can help you hold it and move it once it is loose!!! It is not easy to manage.

The RCA tube TV in the bedroom is easy to remove, although again it is heavy and awkward to hold. It is not bolted down. Take off the 4 screws and the wood frame. Remove the padded wedge from above the TV. I don't remember if you can disconnect the coax and the power cord before you pull it out. You might need to hold it while somebody else helps remove those after you pull it out of the space.

Just noticed this older post. Regarding the replacement options — I have the same year/model and replaced both TV’s about 6 mos ago. Went with Samsung smart TV’s which fit nicely, are energy efficient and perform beautifully. Easy to install/mount with any quality name brand TV mounts. You might consider DirecTV NOW streaming service which works great if you have internet/Wi-Fi available. I’m locked into AT&T for all of my wireless devices/needs and quite happy with the end results... Cheers!

I also bought the Samsung tv. It was the only one I could find with mounting holes on a 200mm spacing. I did have to have the rear mounting brackets modified to be able to access some of the A/V connections. Took it to a welder friend who modified it with a cutoff grinder.

Is there any chance one of you guys have any photos?
What model Samsung did you purchase?
What is the horizontal dimension?
Did you have to alter any wood cabinetry?
What A/V box are you using?
Wow - I know - it's a lot of questions.

I want to do mine but I could not find ANY TV that fit properly.
Any info and photos you have would be appreciated.

Unlikely you will find a suitable unit as HDTV ushered in a new aspect ratio (wider). installs vary widely with the nicest employing woodwork to mod the cabinets.

"Smart" TVs have WiFi capability, which is a mixed bag, IMO, and I see no purpose for that unless connecting to a WiFi source feed.

I suggest first deciding your usage (and signal source) then measure the mount site. Take that info and a measuring tape to the stores. Virtually all TVs or monitors are LED-lit and max display area will dictate minimal framing of it. Speakers can be built-in or external.

Samsung is NOT the sole choice.

Sony is not the best quality anymore.
You've got to be creative in swapping out a CRT with LED HD TVS. Size and mounting are your first consideration.
Newer Smart 4K TV mount the same as other wide screens.
New wide screen TVs are 1/4 the cost of just a few years ago.
We only watch Prime and Netflix to avoid commercials. No OTA or cable or Sat. We have 3 Hot Spot phones for 66 gigs and in rural areas have run over 100 gigs with no broadband slow down.

See below — I will send the Samsung model number under separate cover. This is a 40” Samsung Smart TV on an articulating mount. Paired with a Samsung Sound Bar with a separate sub woofer. Got rid of the old Panasonic surround sound system. This new Samsung w/sound bar/sub woofer is an elegant “wireless Bluetooth” solution with great video and sound. I use DirectTV NOW to stream all content. This works great as long as you have Wifi available. Let me know if you need anything else. Good Luck!

I'm on Direct tv also, and was think about going the same route when my King finally gives up. How much data do you use while streaming?

Re DirecTV Now - streaming solution, I currently don’t monitor monthly data usage. I am with AT&T for all our cellular phone service and have a separate “hot spot” device with a monthly (fixed price) unlimited data plan. I’m not sure if they still offer the “unlimited” plan but I believe its the best low cost streaming solution. You might want to check all cellular providers for best unlimited data plan before streaming tons of content. Good luck...!

The data used will be greatly influenced by the quality you choose to stream. Streaming 480 SD will use much less data than 1080 HD. 4K would use far more, as well as being overkill in a motor home. And of course it depends on how much you watch. Same thing with download speed requirements, which can be a problem in some places. I am not ready to give up the satellite dish for streaming. Too many places with limited cell coverage. But I now have the capability for streaming to check it out.

I also have a Tablo OTA DVR at home, and can remotely stream recordings from it while we are away from home.

I also have the AT&T Mobley "unlimited" plan. For some reason the story about a past Rams coach being given an "unlimited budget" by the owner, only to exceed it the first week comes to mind.
