Newly added Toad

Well my partner in crime was falling out of love with the YJ wrangler so went shopping for a toad. I love towing 4 down so Jeep was at the top of the list.She fell in love with a 2008 Grand Cherokee Overland with under 24000 miles. Even though I checked the rig out prior to purchase, it was after we got home that I noticed the rig was already set up to tow. Even us unlucky people get thrown a bone now and then.

I think the word is serendipity! What a great unexpected surprise.

We towed a Grand Cherokee for a few years and then went to a Ford Bronco.

Sure do miss my Cherokee.

Thanks Rick. Serendipity sounds a heck of a lot better than what I was feeling. I'm starting to have second thoughts on my capability to do an in depth inspection. Never the less my better half still stands by me so life is good.

Course you now don't know how many miles the jeep was drug around behind a motor home. For instance my road has at least 50 thousand being drug that is not on the odometer

As a matter of fact I do know how many miles the toad spent behind the original owners coach. Spoke with the owner after my purchase. He said that Father time had caught up to him so he sold his coach 3 years ago and he thought the toad had been pulled some where between 6-7 thousand miles.

My 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited tows better than any other vehicle except another jeep. My second choice would have been a Honda CRV but you have to stop every 200 miles and cycle the transmission with the engine running to keep it lubed up, PIA to even remember to do this. The jeep tows better than anything it just don't hold much stuff. The ride was vastly improved over the 2009 we used to have and it's quieter inside as well. More HP in the engine so it gets up and goes now. Mileage is about the same as the 09.

The CRV towing instructions must have changed recently. I have been towing one for 6 years and 75,000 miles and have never had to run it except first thing in the morning. No problems at all. The only problem I've heard of is folks that use a break system that relies on the CRV battery have issues with the battery going dead. With the M&G Engineering set-up, not an issue.

Congrats we are getting a family members 05' Grand Cherokee 4x4 limited shipped out to us for towing as well… We were lucky and prevented the family member from getting the N23 recall that breaks 4wd neutral.
