Nile System

I have a 2006 Alpine Apex and in the process of changing our my TV I found what looks like some kind of control system with the name Nile on it. Does anyone know anything about this. What's it do and how do you ever know whether it is working or not. Happy New Year

That is the remote control unit to switch the satellite receiver so you can watch it on the bedroom TV. You will find a small (nickel size) button on the wall just above the drawers, under the TV in the bedroom, see it on the picture below. That relays the signal from the bedroom to the front satellite receiver.

That's funny, the Nile system in our Apex is used with the Silverleaf to operate the slides with the remote control both from the bedroom area and in the front room.

The Niles system is a remote repeater, it can be used for many things, depends upon how it is wired, it repeats the remote control signal.

Trouble is, how do I connect it to the dish box? That would certainly solve an issue getting our dish remote (set to UHF) to change channels on our DVR (mounted in the front cabinet).

Nile System

Go to this web site and look up your model#, the users manual will explain how to attach it and how it works.

Thanks Dave. Looks like I'll have to do some disassembly of the front cabinet to get at the unit to see the model number.

You will notice in the Apex that you can point the universal remote, or any of the other remotes for that matter, at one of the "eyes" (they are IR repeaters) and it will send the signal to the appropriate unit including the Silverleaf control center. In my coach, I have a repeater mounted on top of each front speaker for the in house stereo, one on top of the left rear speaker in the kitchen and one at the rear TV. All I need to do when extending slides, for example, is ensure that one of the repeaters is engaged.

In my coach, also, there are the other end of the repeaters mounted to each component and I have two satellite receivers, one for the front TV and another separate one for the rear TV.
