No Air Pressure!
When I was down south last winter and was going to come home I started my Alpine. I was only parked for a week and my air bags would not inflate. I did have a air pressure gauge to plug into the air chuck had no air pressure. I started at the air compressor and unhooked the stainless steel air hose and nothing. I called Cummins and they said probably the the unloader valve in the head of the compressor was stuck open. I had three choices of what to do. Call a mobile tech, call a tow truck, or use my electric air compressor. I decided to use my electric air compressor since we do not have air brakes and only need air for the air bags and parking brake. If you had problem with the inverter, you could always use the the generator. I just ran it off the inverter and set it for 120 psi. I was going to run it into may air dryer first, but since we have no air pressure gauge on the dash I was not aware I was only getting a little over 60 pounds pressure, just enough to keep my low air suspension light off on the dash. The problem was I had a bad pop off valve on the dryer that was letting too much air out. So I just hooked my air hose up to my air chuck fitting and everything worked fine. There must be check valve in the air dyer to stop it from going back. You do need to make a double male fitting. to connect it. The bottom line is, I ran it 1200 miles no problem to get me home.
The unloader valve was no longer stuck open by the time I took it to Cummins and it needed a new pop off valve in the air dryer. Before I was going to take it out again, I installed an air pressure gauge on the dash. I just teed a 1/4 inch hose of the air tank. The problem with the low air suspension light is they turn off a little over 60 pounds, after that you don't have a clue how much air you have. I was driving this for over a year with low air.
My motor home only had 15,000 miles when I had this problem. I carried an electric air compressor and never needed it until then. If you are in the middle of nowhere and your bags don't inflate, this will get you home.
