No-Flush-Flush

The NO-FLUSH-FLUSH to the Black Tank on our 2005 34 Ft. Alpine stopped working just this past week. It has worked fine until now. Now when I connect the water line to the inlet and turn the water on no water will flow into the system. The water acts like it is being stopped by a one way valve. Does anyone have any "perly bits of wisom" of how I can correct this situation? - Tom

Hi Tom, No I have not had that problem, but I would be confident that your idea of a bad one way valve would be the answer. What else could it be?? There are no other parts between your tank and the water hose. good flushing, old trucker

Tom- I believe there is a check valve inline on each of the gray and black flush lines. On my 08 the black tank line's check valve came apart inside, and the little seal gizmo (shaped like a motor valve w/stem) popped off its spring. The effect is it was now a one-way check valve in the opposite direction.
On mine the check valves are on the PS just before the flush line enters the tank. You could see if that is the same location for the 05 by removing the screws from the clips on the lower edge of the PS utility bay (no lock on that bay door, but it swings open like the lockable doors, you just have to unscrew it from below). If you can't find the check valves there, perhaps somebody else knows where they are.
The check valves WRV was using are short, brass body type w/threaded connection on each end. Unthread it, & take care not to spill out small parts inside. If its the same issue, I just snapped the internal parts back together & reinstalled; been working fine since. The check valve basically keeps tank contents from leaking back thru the flush line.

Depending on the system there is either a check valve, a vacuum breaker or both.

On my rig I had "The flusher" which is nothing more than a nozzle on the end of a pipe, I removed it and replaced it with the Tornado, which works better, somewhat.

The flusher had no check valve, it relied on a vacuum breaker above the tank, and "Stuff" and managed to seep back into it when the tank was full partially clogging the ports.

The Tornado has a check valve, I still left the vacuum breaker in line.

The hose I use for rinsing the tank also has a check valve and a vacuum breaker.

That's 2 each, belt and suspenders.

Had the same problem on my 05. It turned out to be clogged nossels. According to the manufacture you can clear by flushing the tank the best you can and refill add a generous amount of a enzyme treatment and let it sit for a week or two. Drain and flush. I had mine pulled and cleaned I don't have the patience to wait two weeks. The manufacture told me it is almost never the air gap device that fails and in my case he was correct

I had something clog the black tank flush from the outside line. Couldn't tell what it was, but insects of some type got into the flush inlet, and flushing it didn't work because no water went through at all- nor did any air when I put air pressure on it.

I pried the old flush end off, and found no check valves or anything else-- although there is, of course, the air break. The flusher was just a small, plastic, cup-shaped (about 1/2" deep) fixture with holes in it. It's also on the drain side of the tank. Now how did it ever flush such a wide tank by pushing against the natural flow?


I removed the end, plugged the opening in the tank, and extended the flush hose to the other side of the tank. I bought a turbo-flush from CW and followed the installation instructions. Now the flush is on the passenger side so it flushes towards the drain. It also extends about three inches into the tank and spins around when water pressure is applied, so that no part of the tank remains unflushed. And it has a check-valve. Works very well now.
