Noisy Dash Fan/Blower Replacemnet

For those that have a noisy dash fan for A/C or heat here is some information you may find helpful. We have a 2006 Limited FDQS. The motor is made by Unimotor, Phone number 519-633-8422. The Unimotor part number (motor) on ours was 11588 12V 04156. The fan/blower can be removed and installed on the new motor which is what I did. The motor is carrierd by Carquest and the part number there is 208990, I paid $30.78 plus tax. You will need some type of gasket that did not come with the motor. I used closed cell sponge tape from Ace hardware 1/4" by 3/4" less than $5.00. This looked similar to what WRV used. This is an easy fix and our A/C is quiet once again.

Raven, Did the new fan have a metal squirrel cage? I replaced mine with one from NAPA and it had a plastic squirrel cage. Over about a year the cage melted and got out of round and rubbed a hole in the fan case. Luckily NAPA replaced it, but I think the plastic cage will be a common problem.

The cages are all plastic these days. They should not be melting. Something else is causing that. Most motors are cooled by a hose that ducts cold air into the motor. Look for a restriction of air flow.

hax,

I cleaned and reused the original plastic fan/blower. The motor was sold by itself. As stated by mr300ce the motor had two plugs. In my case the one toward the top I removed and attached the air hose that was there attached to the orignal motor.
