Ok you mechanics out there

. I have a few drips on the bottom of our bellhousing between the engine and tranny

. It is dripping off a hose and two heavy electrical wires. I lifted the bed, showing off to Patty

, and find the leak might be coming from the right rear (passenger, tranny side) of the engine. I don't see any injection lines coming out of it, but two large diameter hoses (one might be green if I recall) attach to it from the rear of the engine. Two wet wires come out underneath. It appears to drip on the starter and somehow gets down on the bellhousing. The smell is a bit like diesel, but not strong, runnier than oil though.

Any one know what this part might be?

I was just reading that this new fuel could cause fuel leaks in older engines.

Sounds very similar to the FUEL leak on our 2003. Turned out the fuel pump was leaking. Could also be oil or even anti-freeze(the heater hose connection on the rear of the engine is/can be an issue) but sounds like the fuel pump to me. Our leak was running down the bell housing and the starter....dean

It is at Cummins now. Probably is the fuel pump like Dean and Jan said. If we need a new one it's about $120 plus labor

. Decided I didn't want to do it. Hanging over that opening and waiting for that 100 lb lid to fall on me

. Plus it was pretty greasy

.

Also saw that an inspection plug was missing on the bell housing

, but thay said the inspection hole was supposed to be open to show signs on rear main seal leaks ect.
