I have 2006 Apex, I have had problems with Generator shutting down, Not being able to start it from the Dash, Need to slide Gen out & start it there , But will only run for 20 seconds, Have had it in to Cummins Coach Care 4 times, They get it running but as soon as we get few Miles away it shuts down, I have another appointment at C.C. this Monday, Anyone out there had a similar problem?..
Thanks Dave In Minnesota!

I had a situation where the gen would start and run seconds and shut down, but only intermittently, mainly after driving the coach. If I turned off the circuit breaker on the gen it would run OK. Problem turned out to be small coolant leak from heater hose above the gen. Coolant would drip on to the top of the gen and down into the circuit breaker causing the problem.

Have you changed the fuel filter reguarly and made sure you don't have small fuel leaks. This was my problem once. Another was not enough coolant and it shut down for that reason when it got a little warm.
Just suggestions--

There have been a few Onan owners who have had issues with bad high-temperature coolant sensors. It thinks it's getting too hot and shuts it down. One the sensor is replaced it works fine.

Dave - We had similar problems with the gen on our 07 Apex - We were getting so frustrated after taking it in to CC repeatedly and even to an RV dealer who couldn't figure out the problem. CC finally replaced the fuel pump and it has worked perfectly ever since (8 months)!

Amazing how many different causes there are for this problem. We had the exact same problem. Ended up being a loose wire in the stator system.
Good luck.

We are now having the same symptoms with our generator--won't stay on over one minute. At least we'll have a lot of suggestions of things to try.

Our generator problem seems to have self-corrected. This morning Buddy went out to start it, and it seemed just fine. This afternoon he went and tried again, and it seemed fine. He is still shaking his head about something "reprogramming itself." But I guess that happens with other electronics as well. Justing them down and leaving them for a while seems to do the trick. Anyway, hope this is a true fix.
