Onan 7.5 HDKAJ Oil & Filter Change & Fuel Filter Change Instructions

Onan 7.5 HDKAJ Oil & Filter Change & Fuel Filter Change Instructions

1.)Remove bracket blocking the access door on bottom of Genset. There are two bolts & nuts at each end of the bracket remove all four. This bracket also supports the generator exhaust pipe.
2.)Remove one of the bolts holding the exhaust pipe and twist bracket to release pipe. I used a bungee cord to support the exhaust pipe.
3.)The access door to the oil filter and the fuel filter is now accessible. Squeeze the two plastic thumb
latches and pull down to release the access door. I personally remove the two star screws from the
access door also because it gives you more room to work.
4.) You can now remove the oil filter (Onan Part # 0122-0833) for mine you might want to check yours.
5.) The fuel filter can also be replaced through this access door.
6.) See photos on next page for further help.

Re-Install access door and support bracket and attach exhaust pipe.

Onan Oil Change

Oh, by the way.
I use 5W50 yes 5W50 Castrol Full synthetic oil.
I have used the generator at 20 below zero and 110 above.
This oil is great and I never have to add any.
I change it every every 120 hours

I am a fan of synthetic oil but for some reason the Onan manual specifically does not recommend it. I have the 8 kw on my 2007 but the manual is for many models.
