Question One Step Awning Motor

(Yes, I have searched)

Our motor has died. Is there a replacement for this? The fabric is still in good condition. I have seen posts about the newer motor and torsion spring are available as a conversion kit. I have see posts about a Auto Zone motor window made by Dorman 742-141 that might work.

I would rather pay the $400 to have the motor replaced and not shell out $1800 for a new awning.

Is there an easy answer?

Thank you

Many parts stores carry Dorman products, you can take that part number and shop around.

Thanks for the 1 reply.

What I am asking is-

Has anyone successfully replaced the One Step awning motor and if so, what did you use?

Our motor quit running during a very rainy period in Oregon with our awning still extended. Before we replaced it, or the entire awning, we took off the cover by removing the two screws. After the water drained out I checked to make sure the motor was getting power from the plug by the motor. When I was assured there was power, I rapped on the motor with a flat 2x4 while my DW held down the button to retract the awning. After several taps the motor kicked in and brought the awning in. After drilling a few small holes in the cover to allow for future water drainage. I replaced the cover; it has been over a month and the motor is still working.

Wow. 210 views and only 2 replys.

I guess we are the exception and no one has replaced their motor.

Thanks anyway. I will look on other forums.

Don't know. It will not extend out. I believe it the original that came on the coach from WRV.

Update: They found a loose wire on the motor, reattached and it is working like a charm.
