Does anybody have info on the requirements and application for the subject license?

The PA DMV web-site is vague and not very informative.

Thanks.

The DMV site is a bit ambiguous.
I'll have to check further.

Bob, There is no special license required in the State of PA for driving a recreational vehicle. (should be). CDL is not necassary and the air brake exclusion is not required for Alpine owners even if they elected to have air brakes on their Alpine.
You may have noticed that MD. just changed all of their rules for a "B" license.

Ted,
The MD changes were what prompted me to review the PA requirements.

I am aware that a CDL and Air Brake endoresements do not apply to us and/or our Coaches.

However, there is a real question here and the PA state site is a bit ambigious. Tracking down the "Real" story and procedures is all but futile. It leads 1 way and then drops you cold.

Consequently, I'll be speaking the the State Police for their take on this conundrum.

Hope all's well with you and Carol.

Check out the Jan 08' FMCA magazine. Both require Class B non CDL over 26K GVW. Penna was revised in 07'. Texas made the change a few years back which required written test, eye exam, air brake endorsement (if required), Interstate/Intrastate DOT endorsements and road test! The poor girl had never been in an RV and couldn't stop looking around the coach! I made the change for insurance purposes....could be a real problem with denial of insurance in an accident, not having the correct license! Note TX is based on the GVW, not weight of the coach.

Sleeping dogs can wake up at any time and take a bite out of your butt. My biggest concern is the insurance question. It's been my experience that many insurance companies will use any reason to deny coverage/payment.

BTW, it is the Jan. issue of Family Motor Coaching (page 80) that prompted my questions.

Another concern is that I may have to have a holder of a class B license accompany me for a road test. I don't know anybody that has one.

Thanks all.
