Our Daughter just moved to the La Jolla San Diego area. Can only find one park in Del Mar the Surf and Turf. Was wondering if anyone out there had any imput as to a good park to stay at with hook ups? Thanks so much

We are in San Diego now and lived here for 30 years before, and that is about it unless you go to Mission Bay:

www.campland.com

www.missionbayrvresort.com

Santa Fe Park is closer, but right on I5 & noisy.

Phone: (800)959-3787
Directions: S'bound: From jct I-5 & Hwy 274 (Garnet-Balboa exit): Go 1/4 mi S on Mission Bay Dr, then 1 block E on Damon St, then 2 mi N on Santa Fe St. N'bound: From jct I-5 & Grand-Garnet: Go 1 block N on Mission Bay Dr, then 2 mi N on Santa Fe St.

We stayed at Sante Fe Park and Campland.

Sante Fe is noisy with the train tracks and the freeway. It is a clean park. The noise was just too much for us. It prevented any enjoyment from being outside. Maybe if you are used to city noises it might not be to bad.

Campland can be very crowded, we were there at Easter time and kids were out of school. But I would imagine off season it wouldn't be too bad during the week. We boondocked in the parking lot so we would have a view of the bay.

Depends on how close to Del Mar/La Jolla you want to be. I have stayed at Campland, and it is nice. I can also recommend Guajome. It is a county park in Vista. http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/...Camping/guajome.html

It has full hook ups, and is isolated, and very pleasant. Very easy to get to.

The best campground is a bit south of San Diego, just depends on how far you mind driving. Chula Vista RV Resort is certainly the best. We've stayed there a couple times and were very impressed. But there would be a commute to La Jolla (22.5 miles), less than 1/2 hour.

If you're a member of the Elks (BPOE), the Vista Lodge has some RV Parking, without hookups I believe.

The ELKS Lodge in Vista has 30 AMP service with about 15-20 sites and they do take reservations.

Fran - The Del Mar Racetrack has a small RV Park you can probably get into as long as it isn't race season! I also stayed in an RV Park in Encinitas/Leucadia one summer when I had our grandson in a summer school in DelMar.

Actually, Campland would be closest to LaJolla -5 miles or less - SantaFe Park would NOT be an option in my opinion! Vista would be far away! If you are a member of Passport America - Campland is 1/2 price this time of year. We often stay there off season when we go to Coronado for the Lambs Players Theater 6 or 7 times a year!
