Any Alpiners give us a good steer on the best place to stay around Pismo? We are looking for a decent clean park with room for the Apex without feeling like we are on top of the folks next to us. We also would like the 50 amp service if it gets hot, this will be a July trip, so if we are very far inland, it could get up there.

I agree with Wayne and Roberta, Pismo Coast Village is clean, friendly and within walking distance of Pismo and the beach. There is also a park right across the street that's nice. Right down the street is a RV supply/repair for all your needs.
While there go the the Thursday Night Market in San Luis Obispo and go see a show at the Oceano Great American Melodrama. It's a great area. Have fun!!

The park across the street is Holiday RV Park. We stayed there two weeks ago. Nice, clean place, but the spaces are very narrow. I would stay at Pismo Coast next trip.

Mothership stated there is an RV supply/repair place right down the street. As an Apex owner, you need to be sure not to get to far from repair facilities.

I guess it depends on which evil you want! Prior to the Apex, we had an Avalanche, so at least this coach is livable! To date, we have not had any significant issues with the Apex that we could not work around one way or another. There is, a lot of complexity, but with a bit of preventive maintenance and luck, this coach will serve us well. The Avalanche, on the other hand, had significant issues that affected the livability of the coach, minor items such as a roof that leaked every time it rained, mold and mildew, jacks that tweaked the entire frame, a gen set that worked when it wanted to, dash air that never worked and basement storage that was more like a swimming pool for the stored items just to name a few of many issues!

Seems that Pismo Coast Village is sold out during the dates we specified, any other recommendations in the area? Has anyone stayed at Pismo Sands? We have reservations at Buellton later in the week, but wanted to break up the stay a bit with 2 different places.

Pismo Sands is most definitely not Pismo Coast. Holiday is about halfway between the two. We stayed at Sands and were not impressed, nor unhappy. It has basic services, the regular amenities albeit a bit used, and the trains pass 20' behind the coach, day and night. Very exciting!
Given the choices I'd try Holiday first, as it's a bit closer for walking into town and maybe a bit nicer than Sands.
Flying Flags is very nice and now has two grades of sites. There was a good writeup in one of the rags about four to six months ago.

You might try Ocean Mesa at El Capitan Canyon. Not cheap but really nice. Only about a 15 minute walk to the beach.
