Please identify this component:

Trying to familiarize myself with the hydraulic system on the Apex yesterday. There was a sticker on the reservoir that it contained Chevron Rykon Premium MV. I pulled the dipstick and found it dry after following the directions to retract the jacks and put the drivers side slides in. I used a bamboo skewer to check the level and found it down about 5 inches. The literature says that it should be between the low and high marks on the dipstick. I sure don't want to overfill the reservior and end up with a mess but I think I need to add some fluid. It appears that Rykon is pretty hard to find.

The photo I would like identified is in the propane bay and I believe is a hydraulic component of some sort. There is a rod coming out the top. I tried pushing it in but it doesn't move. Can someone please enlighten me on this item and if the rod is supposed to move? Thank you.

I have never known HWH to use Rykon in their hydraulic system, they specify their own fluid or automatic transmission fluid. However Rykon was used in the hydraulic system that is used in the steering and brake system. Are you sure that you are checking the correct reservoir?

This controls the dinette room slide activity for movement up and down, and in and out.

There are 4 pistons 2 to slide the room in and out and 2 to lift and lower the room slide. My best guess is this device synchronies the lifting and lowering pistons. Then when the room reached it maximum up or down position, switched the fluid to push or retract the room. I have the same controller and the same sticker on the hydraulic tank.

Funny that this thread doesn't show up on a "search this forum" search. Thank you! I called HWH and they said I can use any Mercon or Dextron product; that they are all compatible.

So what product do you use, Gary? Rykon Premium MV is now Rando HD Premium Oil MV, Chevron part #277314.

HWH stated in the past, any quality hydraulic fluid.

I use HWH brand hydraulic fluid available from Camping World. It does not have any colored die and is therefore clear. This way when and if there is an oil leak it will not stain my concrete driveway.
