Potential Scam

I posted a ad in the current FMCA magazine advertising my 2000 Alpine Coach for sale. Today, I got a call from someone identifying herself as Mary at this telephone number...531-600-0295. She says she is from Nebraska and helps sellers find buyers to purchase their motor home. She said the fee is $299.00 and good until the unit sells. Has anyone heard of this person? My guess is this is a scam. I looked on Google and could find no information of a company she represents.

Heard it many times. Most are no help but when and if you sell you have to pay them a percentage regardless who sold, who bought, or when. I say don't do it

Try the classifieds here at irv2 as well as Rvtrader, etc. and Craigslist. Price it fairly and you should have a quick sale. After searching for the past year I would say the 98-99's should be 35-40K. Each newer model year should fetch about 5-10K more than the previous year up to a max of 110-120K for a 2008-9. These prices are for a coach in "very good" condition. Meaning, newer tires, shocks and batteries, few minor cosmetic flaws inside and out, all systems functioning properly, no.missing parts and at least some if not complete maintenance records.

I have seen a few "beautiful or excellent" examples that were immediately identifiable as needing 10-20K dollars of work. It is a buyers market and coaches depreciate faster than anything known to man with the possible exception of a boat. Expect a decline of at least 10k per year on the newer models, slightly less on the older ones. It's a tough pill to swallow that something that cost 300-400K 10 or 12 years ago could be worth so little, but that's the reality.

All the best,

Bob

Got my 99 for 20 grand from a dealer but it has some issues like soft floors in front of the fridge and in the toilet area. And higher miles but being a cummins 265k miles didn't make me flinch a bit
