Stan:

The piece of fabric I was referring to is separate from the awning. One edge (with a corded edge) slides into the track in the roller tube and stretches out along the whole tube. It's about four feet long/tall (I think). I haven't really bothered with it, other than to note its existence. It was also talked about in the original owner's VHS tape of the first walk through, complete with WRV's Mark Hurrah given the starring role. It came out of the original box from A&E, along with a pull rod (for manual awnings), manuals and a few hardware items.

I didn't know they made such a thing..that would lower the shade level "a lot"...and make the cost of pistons, arms, or whatever it needed, a worthwhile task .

I suppose..a way would have to be devised to keep it from flapping constantly, but that is a doable thing.

Looking at you previous post, you may be right ..I may have that extension and not know it. I do have some vinyl for covering the tires and windshield that I haven't unfolded.

Is your extension the same color as the awning...or white like the windshield and tire covers?

We too have the A&E weather pro. Ours also extends over the passenger side slide and is so tall it offers not much shade especially if parked with that side to the west. We have a Patty O Shade from our last RV. It is brown and the awning is green but I may try it anyway. Won't be comfortable leaving it alone and will have to shut off the wind sensor. Would be bad if it tried to roll itself up with the shade attached and anchored to the ground. I have to push the left side hardware in the last inch and don't trust it enough to not strap down both side when in motion.

Sunk $700 into having the thing repaired this fall. New spring and motor. Cheaper than replacing it but I am hoping it lasts a while.

It is a cool toy and when working is impressive. I never really minded yanking down our old manual one much though. Since it extends over the slide I'm not sure a manual one would work since the strap would be above it when extended.

That extension panel is, indeed, off-white. Just a piece of fabric with a ribbed end.

I doubt there is any worthwhile modification that will drop the entire awning lower. The awning rooms or a self-made extension panel are likely the best bets.

Mark (above) is talking about the auto-retracting awning that A&E also makes. As I mentioned before, I prefer the electric, but NOT automated version. On coaches with a patio side slide (like Mark's), a manual slide will not work since they go too low when unfurling and would be damaged by the slide.

The ability to lower is is agreeably nice, but the ability to zip it out or in is a worthwhile trade. Hopefully a panel will work for you. Otherwise, an entirely new system like Carefree of Colorado or Girard will be in your future.

Yep...I believe you are right..on all counts.

I bet I do have the flap extension...everything else seems to be here, except for an HWH..manual.

Well as it turns out I do not have the afore mentioned piece. From your comments it seems that you are unlikely to use it much , if any. If that is the case and you would be interested in selling it please PM me...I'll buy it.

Of course if you perfer t to keep it.."just in case" I certainly understand.

Thanks for that.. you are too kind. Should you get busy or reconsider....I don't want this to be a big issue for you. ...AND once again I would be happy to pay for it. I would have to buy one or have one made somewhere.. Postage only is to cheap.
