Pre-owned Market

Over the years I have noticed

98 thru 03 numerous coaches available
04 thru 05 choice are much less
06 (both Ltd/SE and Apex) numerous choice available
07 virtually none on the market
08 thru 09 limited number available

Are there any reasons for the difference in numbers available? Are there good and adverse years? Is so what are they Was 07 such a good year that no one wants to sell them? In Dec., 08 several of you commented re the pros and sons of the Apex units up to that point. The recent appearance of an 06 on the market prompts me to inquire re an update of the opinions of the 06 & 07 units and comments re the 08 & 09 units. Hopefully by this time most if not all of the problems have been rectified. Owner experience would be appreciated.

Dog- I'm just guessing:
Mostly Alpines were not a first RV for the owner, it was a move-up brand or a this'll-be-my-last-rig type of purchase.
98-03 available simply due to age, original new coach buyers run their course in an RV and time to sell,
06 was iirc the high mintage year, so more would be available.
07- once the Apex w/SmartBeds came out, everybody wanted SmartBeds, so the SE was invented. Lots of owners traded up to the 07's due to the improvements (one piece windshield, better HWH access, SB's), and not ready to trade.
08-09- much lower production due to recession, so many fewer units to buy.

Not sure. Geo's health isn't real good and very hard for him to set up the coach I have to do all the bending to get hoses etc out of the basements arthritis is really setting in.

Pre-owned Market

To shortior: I see 4 99's listed today. $ are 57,500,55,000 80,000 & Call for Price. I suspect many of the 98 to 03 owners may be underwater and don't want to reduce their price to what may be a more realistic current market value.

Paid $41k for ours last year in October, put about another $6k into it what with new tires and other things we needed/wanted. Very clean with pristine paint, good interior with a Silverleaf system and a few other add ons from POs, good maintenance records and recent full maintenance.

Yikes, I would never sell our 2000 any where near that. Guess we will keep it for another 10 years. Especially since we remodeled last year.

For 30k you would get one heck-of-a good coach!!!!!!

X2 Ours fits our needs so well we'll probably not get rid of it for many years. It turned 14 this month and is holding up well.

Not to worry. The coach is worth more than that. Not selling yet.

We have spent a lot of money on our coach because it is unique in having a wheelchair lift and being handicap accessible inside. I am realistic and do not expect to recover that if we sell.
A dealer offered us a 2009 40MDTS in 2011 for $150k but I did not want to go through the conversion process again so turned it down. A couple of companies are now producing handicap coaches so we may be tempted to change in the future.
It amazes me that you still see people trying to sell a '98 coach for $70k+. Your coach is only worth what someone will pay for it.
