Pre-Trip Inspections

So gents and ladies, please hit me with your best pre-trip inspection/check sheets. We are still compiling ours. I have split them in two, one for packing/what to bring, the second for mechanical/systems.

Question for you guys and gals that are much smarter than me... What do you look for when checking suspension/shocks/etc.?

Thanks everyone in advance.

Virtually every RVing checklist one can think of is in all likelihood within one of these links. The one time I forgot to slap the slapbands onto the steering wheel, I drove off dragging my 50A shore power cord; what really hurt was I paid $300 for a Marinco brand in 2013, then paid $150 for a generic one afterwards.

A checklist would be needed to make sure the shore power cord is stowed? A simple walk-around would have caught that.

I would need a checklist to remind me I have a checklist.
I make sure there’s water in the tank and diesel.

The wife takes care of food and we each take care of our own clothes, everything else stays in the RV.

I walk around and check outside compartments are latched and cord is stored. If we crank up the antenna there is an orange ribbon on the sterring wheel to remind me it's up.

I am one anal ocd person but a checklist is not something I've ever used.

The one time I didn't use the steering wheel slapbands a neighbor in a CG talked my ear off while I was breaking camp and I forgot and left it laying on the ground(I did unplug) instead of stowing it away. Getting old is a pain in the keester. That's why I never talk to anyone while they are packing up, I wait until they see me and indicate they want to talk too.

...to quote one of my favorite movie characters--as Captain Ron said: "If its going to happen, it will happen out there [on the road]." So beyond general preventive maintenance, if it breaks, you can fix it. If you forget to pack it, you can buy it......so happy sailing, I mean camping.…..good luck

So for 12 years we've been doing it all wrong because we don't have any checklists? I've never understood how someone could move with the power cord still plugged in, but then I NEVER start the engine until we've finished unhooking and putting things away. Then start, hit store button and walk around to get the pads under the jacks while they come up and air bags fill.

I've been camping since 1972, wife and I since 1987. In all those years have never used a "list". After so many trips we both know what needs to be done, what to bring, ect. We have our routine, her inside and me outside.
Rig gets kept up to date as far as maintaince and up keep.
It's pretty much second nature to us. No list needed.
