Propane heater noise

Last night heater clicked on and a loud high pitch noise started we had to shut off then in the morning it was fine but tonight did that again. Any ideas??

Loud squeal is usually fan motor bearings getting dry. They are bronze bearings I believe with no easy way to re-oil, normally a throw away. Having said that, I did manage to resurrect the first one that failed by letting a little 3 in one oil dribble down each shaft while on the bench and rotating the shaft by hand to work it in.

I just swapped that out with the second furnace ... the motor on that one while not seized was tight enough to pop the cb on the furnace. In the process of trying to resurrect the second unit, but it is still pretty stiff.

Will have to see how long the repaired one lasts.

Replacements are about $50 and up ... here is one example for the Atwood 8500 series furnace .

You have a surburban furnace in your coach. THe furnace has an outer can, which the furnace slides into. You will have to disconnect the air delivery lines, propane line, electrical and then slide the furnace out of the housing. This design is much superior to attwood. It's a couple hour job, the bearings are in the electrical motor, the motor is not that expensive, I would just replace the motor Problem solved. Live with the noise unless you are not going to use the coach for around a month. I would order the motor directly from suburban, they have excellent customer survice, so once it's on order you should have it in a week. If you want me to order it I could but then I would have to drop ship it to you. You can PM me and let me know, my company is a warranty provider for suburban.
