Protect-a-Tow?

We have a Protect-a-Tow, a 2004 MDDS and a 2013 Honda CRV. Has anyone connected a Protect-a-Tow to your Alpine Coach or to your CRV? If so, where did you attach the eye-bolts on either vehicle? (p.s. We know there are several good options out there for protecting the toad from flying debris, but we already have the Protect-a-Tow and would like to use it.)

I believe both vehicles have plastic (CRV) or fiberglass. (Alpine) Use a drill in an inconspicuous place, drill holes and use threaded eyebolts with a nut and washer on either side of each hole. On the CRV, you might try to place eyebolts behind the front skirt so you don't break them off on a curb or bump.

I'll take a look at ours in the morning. We have a piece of angle iron that is set back under the cap. I would not drill into the cap to secure the protect a tow. I would think a tight turn might cause stress cracks.

You can see the angle iron spans the rear of the coach. It is bolted in two places (one on each side) to the back of the frame. I have eyelets attached to the angle bracket.
The cars plastic bumper wasn't strong enough not to flex, so I used an aluminum strap as a brace for the eyelet on the car. I am sure you could find a secure spot to attach the brace to the CRV.

Tom, the only thing I know about the Protec-A-Tow is that it does Not Work on rigs with Rear Outlet Exhaust. I called the manufacture for confirmation and the answer was no way.
However, looking at your photos, I see your rear mud flap is very close to the ground. From experience, I can tell you you mud flap is causing more trouble than it prevents. Suggest cutting off a few inches to get it at least 5-6" off the ground to help it not scrape up showers of stones when you go through dips in the road.
I have removed my rear flap completely and find my toad (CRV) is much cleaner now without it.

I am sitting in my drive with no air in the suspension. Yes, a rear exhaust would burn a hole in the Protect-A- Tow, but all Alpines have a side exhaust. Except maybe the short lived Avalanche.
I use the P. a T to shield the intercooler on our PT, but in 60K of towing, we have only a few chips.
