Radiator Drain Valve

Which direction do you turn the petcock to open it? Clockwise or counterclockwise when facing it? I'm trying to remember the last time a drained coolant on a car and it seemed opposite from normal faucets.

Usually, drain petcocks have regular right hand threads (counterclockwise to open and clockwise to close). I haven't tried opening mine on my Alpine yet, so can't say for sure and then as Old Scout recently posted on another string, what may be so for one Alpine, may not be so for another. Try what usually works first and if it doesn't, try the opposite!

I am reading the title of the thread "Radiator Drain Valve" and I see "CCW". What the heck does a concealed carry permit have to do with a drain valve? I had to look!!!

Ya got me.

CCW is always on my list for any diagnosis, cuz sometimes I just shoot myself in the foot. Nice to have the tools handy, eh?
