Redirecting fresh water dump to swimming pool

After each camping trip I dump my unused fresh water supply into the street. Now that California is running out of water it seems like a better solution would be to drain this water into my swimming pool. Does anyone have an idea how to get the water out of the fresh water tank and pump it two feet uphill into a pool?

Do you have a hose spigot in the water bay? Your pump should handle two feet up - that's less than the rise to the faucets inside.

I did what FlyingDiver suggested and put a Spigot in the fresh water line that can be used from the pump in the Sanitation/Fresh Water bay. It took about a half hours work and less than $20.00 in parts.

20 dollars in parts!! WOW, How about less than 10 (Not counting the garden hose)

You will need a 1/2 inch Iron Pipe Nipple and a 1/2 inch IPT (ID) to Garden hose coupler, any hardware store will have 'em

Remove the sprayer from the end of the outside shower, the end of the hose is a standard 1/2 inch pipe thread. Screw the nipple (See notes below) into the hose adapter, screw the end of the shower hose onto the nipple, hook up garden hose, open cold water valve on faucet, turn on rig's water pump.. Pump till empty


NOTES

I use Cast Iron Nipple and brass coupler

You can use PVC to IPT adapters and PVC-Hose

You can use all brass

You can use any combination that gets you from 1/2 inch ID to male hose fitting

I have one of the couplers that John-D referred to and have used it a number of times on the road when I need water outside the rig. Very convenient. I often use it also when at a dump station to connect to the black water flush it the dump station hose cannot be used.

Another version of John-D's idea: permanently install the garden hose adapter to the low point drain under the coach. Hook up a garden hose, open the drain valve and the pump will empty the tank up hill into your pool. Since I have RO water, I use this connection to wash the coach.

Why do you want to dump it? I just add water to mine for the next trip. I have owned a motorhome for 30 years and have never had a water tank issue. I used to add chlorine to my tank every so often and dump it, but stopped even doing that many years ago. I am not a water bottle guy either. We drink the water from the water tank.

Here in earthquake country; the first thing I do when I get home is fill (or flush and fill) the fresh water tank. I also keep the propane and fuel near full.

I know there have been message on this board where people have checked their fresh water tanks with a camera and found a host of bacteria growing in there. We don't drink the water from our tank but we do use it to wash. Hence we do not dump it each time.
