Replacing items removed from 01 Alpine

We have found that several items were removed on our new to us coach before it was repossed.
The coach has a moto-sat dish, but no controller. Should I just purchase a new controller or replace the dish setup altogether?

No central vac. It was supposed to have a Red Devil vac in the storage bay but it was removed. What model # to replace?

There is an antenna on top that has a spring. On the driver's side just above the window there is a black piece that may hold the CB antenna? Or is it for the am/fm radio?

We are very happy with the coach, especially my wife.
Just looking forward to more time to enjoy it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Merry Christmas to all !

Sincerely,
Alex

Alex, Welcome to IRV2 and the Alpine Coach Forum.

Alpines came prewired for a CB with an antenna mount but no antenna. The cable is coiled up under the dash if you decide you want a CB.

Check Datastorm users web site http://www.datastormusers.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/ubb/get_topic/f/19/t/000584.html Bill Adams has a Nomad 2 controller listed for $200. Bill is a reputable MotoSat dealer. The Alpines came with a MotoSat Executive dish as an option. If the dish is still mounted in front of the AC unit, there is a good chance it is mechanically damaged. You can do a search on issues with a open face dish mounted up front on an Alpine. If it were me I probably would replace it with a newer dish either MotoSat or Wingaurd open face type. I am sure you will get a lot of input on that subject.

The Vacuum cleaner has not changed much over the years a current Dirt Devil RV vacuum should work fine. RV Upgrades sells them and they support this site. http://www.rvupgradestore.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=488Upgrades . It probably was removed to reclaim the storage. I know in our case my wife doesn't like it so it never gets used. I moved ours to a location above the waste tanks attached to the bottom of the floor. It is a little harder to change the bag but then it doesn't get used anyhow.

There's certainly no reason to replace the antenna. The MotoSAT is an excellent antenna with a long life span. Do you know if it is the original Executive with just one LNB? If so, the Nomad I have available would be perfect for you. This antenna was meant for use with the DirecTV service (none of the current HD programming, however) or Dish Network 119 satellite only. If you have one of the newer 2, 3 or 5 LNB antennas then you will need a new controller as well.
Let me know if you need any more information about your MotoSAT.

The coach has a Cobra CB already installed. So I still need to figure out what the black "box" above the driver's door is for.
Thanks for the info on the Moto Sat and Dirt Devil vac.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

Hi Alex,

On my 2000 the black box above the driver's window is where the CB antenna mounts. There have been reported problems on our vintage of Alpines with the CB antenna and wiring. I have a new Cobra CB and it doesn't work very well with the standard setup. I don't recall the exact issue but I seem to recall a new non-ground-plane antenna may fix the problem along with replacing the cable.

Welcome to the family.

In my experience with my 2001 Alpine a new ground plane anttena significantly improved reception with no change in the cable.

The previous note's reference to a "ground plane" antenna was likely meant to say a "no ground plane" antenna. See this link for such an antenna:

No Ground Plane (NGP) CB Antenna Kits

See this link for some practical "theory":

Previous post is correct. I was wrong and should have stated no ground plane antenna.
