Residue From Roof

When rain or dew runs off my roof, it leaves white or gray streaks down the sides of the coach; especially down the driver and passenger side windows. Have you seen this and and what can be done to stop this?

I use a rubber roof cleaner twice a year and that has nearly eliminated the problem.

Dan, carefully read all replies, Alpines have fiberglass roofs (not rubber). You can wax them to reduce or hopefully stop the streaks.

Wash your roof 2 or 3 times a year & that should eliminate most of it.

When this white streaking happened to me I realized that the roof requires as much or more maintenance as the rest of the coach. Since your roof finish has deteriorated, you will need to use a mild detergent such as Dawn and a mildly aggressive scrub pad to remove the white powdery residue that has accumulated. After rinsing and drying, apply a coat of wax and the roof will look like new with no more white streaks. I do this every year now and the streaking has not returned.

Wash the roof each time you wash your coach and this will take care of most the black run off from the top.
