Retractable step on 2003 Alpine coach

Step has completely stopped working. Also, how can I repair the step on the toilet that won't auto return.

Check the manufacturer's name on the step then use the "powered by Google" search box at the top of the page. There are many threads on step repair, motor mechanism, cheaper sources for motors, etc.

Same for the toilet issue. You might try removing the foot pedal and lubing it with some plumber's silicon grease. Also the pedal might be hung up by the rotating ball seal in the toilet, it also can be cleaned with a toothbrush and greased with the plumber's grease.

1--could be the step motor or controller [actually motor is an automotive electric window actuator--like 94 Lincoln Town car]. Kwik-step is out of business but think there are other sources for parts--check this forum. Might want to check fuses, and the pressure switch in the door jam first, before tearing the step apart.

2--like mine--the internal parts in your 03 toilet probably have never been replaced. Kits are available for both the dump valve and the water valve. Might could clean/rehab these valves but getting new parts is probably a better solution, longer term.

I just rebuilt the toilet seals, valve and spring kit, I found the parts on Amazon. My toilet is a Sealand Traveler 510+

Re: Step

My step just stopped working a few weeks ago (02 Aline 36 FDDS). The first thing the tech did was to got under the coach, and had me open and close the door. He could hear the motor hum, but steps would not budge (a common problem). Took it appart and used some type of dry lube on the moving parts. Back in business. Cheap quick test, otherwise follow Old Scouts directiions.

Also, the step light did not work, so he added a side marker light (SOB) with lots of diodes and wired it in....plenty of light now!

Light fixture in 2003 Alpine Coach

We have ordered a part for the toilet step and hope it solves the problem. Will check out the info from friends to get the door step to work.
New problem. The light fixture above the kitchen sink has quit working. Replaced the bulb but only works when I push on it. Do we need to replace the whole fixture and if so where can I find one.

I'd remove the fixture and look for what's making the connection when you press on it. Perhaps it's just a loose connection, no need to replace the fixture in that case. If it's the switch that's bad, you could replace the switch if possible, at worst you'll then have to buy a new light fixture.

You haven't identified the step manufacturer for us yet. To see if it's a power, control board, or motor issue, you can crawl under and unplug the (usual) 4 pin connector. Test the connector for 12 v power. If it's not present, you've got a fuse, wiring, or switch issue. If it is present, then most likely the control board. To see if it's the motor, a jumper wire could be used to connect the 12 v directly to the motor lead and see if it works. If the motor runs, then you'll know it's a control board problem.

Since you mentioned that the light worked, the power probably isn't the issue. I'd go right to the jumper wire step above.

As Old Scout mentioned, the motor and gearbox are a stock electric window mechanism. You could remove it and match it up at an auto parts store. You'd pay a fraction of buying one from the step manufacturer.
