Has anyone come up with anything to clean the water/rust ring around the toilet bowl at the water line?

I've used a pumice stone (yes, the same kind you use to smooth rough heels/elbows) to remove the ring from our porcelain toilet. Gently scrub with the pumice stone & the ring will dissappear.

Dave,

Since you are expecting great abuse, we would hate to disappoint you. An optimist will never be pleasantly surprised.

I replaced the whole toilet. The ring went away. There are a few drawbacks with that approach, but it worked.

I would think a little Lime-Away should remove it. That should remove calcium deposits left from hard water.

Again, more abuse...we installed Frank Rouse's R/O system...no rings, great water. It's all good.

Try Iron Out. It's powder and you can get it at Lowes,Home Depot Wal-Mart. If your white tee-shirts are turning yellow you can even add it to your wash. It's a powder. You wet the surface and sprinkle it on. It's probably iron stains from the water.

Hmmmmm, all the ideas posted would work. Replacing the toilet was the most expensive solution. I liked the pumice stone idea the best, however, one suggestion was the RO system. This is also a great idea, or you can get an external filters between the water supply and the coach, and the cartridge would/should remove iron, and chlorine as a minimum. There are different filter cartridges you can get, and some people hook up two filter housings. Happy travels.

Since I have had Vagabond RO systems in both of my Alpines I didn't give much thought to the rust ring around the toilet in this thread. During the Holidays at home I discovered some lime on one of the bath room faucets even though I have a soft water system. Haven't ever seen rust or lime in my Alpine. So if you want great water, get a Vagabond RO System. Or if you want to buy a great Alpine Coach with a Vagabond RO already installed, see Vagabondman in the classified section. Better yet tell your friends.
