Is anyone using "RV Notebook Software" on Windows 7 ?
I need some installation help.
I have been using it for years on Windows XP but I can't get it working exactly correct on Win 7.

Rv Notebook is what I have used also. I had fits trying to install it on my new notebook. So..... I installed it to a 4 gig thumb drive. Now I can use it on virtually any computer with a USB port. It is very difficult to get the program to work with newer versions of MS Office. Newer versions of MS ACCESS cause problems. Try the memory chip or thumb drive to make life easier. Good luck... ed

Looks like they aren't selling it anymore.

Let's see......We finally get everything to work on XP so let's change everything so nothing works anymore.
That's to further serve you better from our friends at Microsoft.

The owner of RV Notebook passed away about 2 yrs ago. His wife apparentley didn't have the computer skills to keep up with the software. They sold what inventory they had and shut down the operation. There are other RV software available. Nomad Notes, RV tracker (free excel program) and others. I still prefer RV'ers notebook. ed

I don't know if this will help in this particular situation, but one thing to ALWAYS remember when installing software on a Win7 machine is to Right-click on the Install or Setup file and then click "Run as Administrator". This gives the installation full access to install files where Win7 normally restricts access. Good Luck!

Nick: I am having install problems and tried your suggestion. The program is still having problems locating data files. Keep getting error messages referring to "paths". I concur with TJSHIVELY, I can't seem to get the program to install properly.

FWIW - http://rvbookstore.com/ - this place has everything you ever wanted to know about RV's. I personally recommend the "How to drive your Motorhome Like a PRO DVD. However, if you sign up for the weekly newsletter, in that weekly email link is an advertisement to a link for the software which will do what you want. I could not find it in my quick search, it's not expensive, will run in Windows 7 (which by the way is easy to run and use-much easier than XP) (guess it helps to have been computer professional for 20 years in my past life).
Win7-your login account should be an administrator account so when software is installed, it does not need to ask for permission. You can change you level of access to the account you have created, but if you are not computer savvy, and then ask for help. There are hundreds of how-to’s on Kim Komando's (http://www.komando.com/) web site, sign up for her tips and tricks. Also if you have grand children, then they know more about PC's than you, and they can fix it. If all else fails, you can take the laptop to best buy, and talk to one of their "geek squad" folks and they can get it working most likely.
One other tip, you can also choose to install it as an "XP Type Program", using the right mouse button, it's an option on that menu if I remember correctly. My rule of thumb is to upgrade software at least every three years, except for Microsoft Office, as it’s too expensive to upgrade that often. I usually skip one generation and then upgrade that. Quicken, I upgrade every other year, Nero every 3rd year or when I buy a new laptop.
FWIW#2 – If anyone is thinking about new PC, wait until Christmas time this year, why? Intel is coming out with new chipset/processer, and Microsoft is releasing windows 8, both will give you a speed/performance boost, and the price should be cheaper than current units and better battery life as well. Get I-5-7 based chip, 8 GB ram, and at least 850-1 TB of hard disk space. Also, a new wireless networking protocol will/should be out by then, and that is again supposed to increase networking speed.
Apple folks need not apply; you are stuck with what apple puts in their very expensive units, and if your apple machine breaks, you need an apple store to get it fixed.

I finally got RV's Notebook working on Windows 7.
I should have written it all down -- but ...........
If anyone really needs to know how to install it just e-mail me and I'll work it out again but I'm not going through it all if no one really needs it.

Glad you got it running. You never answered my question on a specific question. I would have fired up the Win 7 laptop and checked the paths.
Happy trails.

Gentlemen: I gave up trying to install RV Notebook on Windows 7 and bought another program (which hasn't arrived yet) called Nomad Notebook. I hope it works. I will let you know.

I tried Nomad Notes. It is from down under. I didn't like it. Only allows you to install onto ONE computer. Now she has set it up to BLOG from for an annual fee. ed
