Sanitize Fresh Water Tank
My apologies if this turns out to be a very stupid question. If is is, I promise to smack myself in the head. 
How do you get a bleach mixture into the fresh water tank to sanitize it?

The way I do it is hook up fresh water hose and pour bleach into hose(use longer hose)at the supply end of hose. Then hook up hose to supply and turn it on. repeat as needed.
If there is a better way out there I am all ears.

I do not know about the Alpines, but my Safari Cheetah has a place in the wet bay on the wall that you can add things to the water tank. Other units have a tube that sucks fluid out of a container so you can add fluid to winterize and that can be used for bleach solution as well. Look for either a place to add, mine has a screw cap on it or look for a plastic tube hanging down.

Also... Add solution to filter container (minus filter element) and push through adding fresh water.

Wouldn't the filters be drawing water FROM the fresh water tank rather than pumping water INTO the tank?

If you were on municipal chlorinated water why would you have to add anything other than municipal water?

To sanitize the fresh water tank after winter storage. It's 12 degrees today but I'm trying to have a positive attitude by thinking about Spring!

I refer to external filter... between supply and MH.

ONE TABLESPOON of "quick dissolving pool chlorine granules" will sanitize the ENTIRE tank of water. Go for a short ride and then let it sit for a few hours before dumping. You can then add fresh water and you are done. This way you do not have to do rinses to eliminate the bleach taste and smell. I use the SPA GRANULES because it dissolves in a few minutes. My coach has a place to put the sanitizer in. You could even dissolve it in some water first and then add it if you wish. And yes I was assured by a local pool company that one tablespoon is plenty for up to 100 gallons. I know another coach owner who doesn't even dump the sanitized water. He uses it as is, but I just feel better dumping it and adding fresh. The pool company also said that you can add less than a tablespoon of spa granules to each tankful and it will always be safe and still drinkable, with no dumping or rinsing required.
If you are in doubt just call a pool/spa company and they will assure you.

Jim & Sandy,
There is no such thing as a stupid question when it comes to motorhomes or most anything else as far as I am concerned. I appreciate or better yet, don't appreciate your weather as we are in PA.
