Has anyone replaced their screen door latch...the one that closes the screen door to the outside door?
Ours got bent while in for service and they said they had no idea where to get a replacement.
Has anyone replaced one or come up with a better idea for this door latch?
Thanks for your help

Hello & Welcome Ken:
I am assuming they bent the flat piece that will secure the screen door to the coach when the main door is open. Depending how bad it is bent you might be able to bend it back so you can continue using it, as I have done this before. The handle can be removed with an Allen wrench. If it is the handle you can contact the manufacture of the door, PTL Eng, 3333 John Conley Dr., Lapeer, Mi 48446, Phone (810) 664-2310 Fax (810) 664-2360, they should be able to provide parts or give information on a parts distributor.
I hope you also post information yourself and on your Alpine as we all would like to get to know you.
I hope you join us at on of the Alpine Coach Rallies.

If they bent it then the service people should fix it or replace it. Case closed.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the reply. Ken is a Seabee and we met at the Nashville Rally and at the Balloon Fest Rally. ( ACA member) We fly the Seabee flag! Living in Vegas for the 'winter', then back to Buffalo.
We could not go to the DRR because our Coach was at Altmanns Rv in Colton CA, having the refrigerator replaced. Just got it back yesterday. Had this problem since last June, dealing with Extended Warranty, etc. Finally done. Let's keep in touch,

Service outfit in Sacramento area (Future Ford's fleet service shop) bent ours, along w/other damage done while in for LOF. The aluminum paddle is fairly malleable (can be bent without breaking) and was easily straightened w/a hammer on a clean flat durable surface. Came apart & went back like Dave describes above.

Thanks Dave and Mike,
Tried the PTL number...must be out of business, disconnected every time I call.
Looking on-line...so far no luck.

If the qulaity of their doors is anything like their web site, then we're all in trouble.

Agreed their website isn't much to brag on, but when you get ahold of them they are great to work with.

In fairness to them, their website used to have more information on it. Obviously they are changing it around, and you see the under construction pages.
I never had a problem with their doors in this coach or a previous motorhome, but I will take EngineerMike's word for it that they are great to work with. Their product is in a lot of coaches.
I have bent my latch numerous times, and carry Channellock pliers in the coach just to straighten it out.

I was only kidding about the web site. I have not had any problems with my front door and it seems very well made.

Our latch broke and we found a new one from Guaranty RV 1-877-463-0067. Rich Ellis directed us to them..Thanks Rich! Ask for Shawn in parts. Received it the next day. He said they have a number of Alpine parts. Check them out.

In regard to PTL, we had to get a new outside gasket for the door (the black one that goes around the entire door). After a phone call, they mailed it (the gasket) to me with an invoice. I sent a check when I received the part. It wasn't expensive, but still trusting. They were easy to deal with.
At the time in December, they were working only M-Th IIRC.
