security switch

OK...in the control center just in front of the fridge where the Generator start, AGS panel, fluid levels etc...there is a white switch, labeled security on my 2002 40FDTS...what does it actually do? I've switched it on/off and tried various things but haven't found out if it does anything....

Hi

It turns on the large round light on the outside driver's side wall. It's a "security" light. The same type of light as the patio light on the passenger's side wall.

The above answers are correct. If you are not seeing the light come on with the switch, there is a good chance the bulb is burned out. Those are 1295 bulbs, and have a pretty short life span, maybe 100-200 hours depending on the chart used. They are 3 amp, which is pretty high power for 12 volt bulbs.

I put in LED's with a lower amp draw, more light, and less heat. And much longer lasting.

I found the bulbs at NAPA for $5.95 each, ordered a dozen online for about $20 or so. A few week before we traded the rig in I bought some 48 LED flat panels. They were MUCH brighter and cost about $10 each. We had four of the lights, two on each side on the '02 Dutch Star. Wish we had them on the Magna as they give off a lot of light.
