Thanks to others who have posted their experiences on this subject, I was able to identify and correct a black water odor in our '05 34FDDS.
The source of the odor was a cracked fitting for the "No Muss Flush" system installed by WRV. When it was installed, a PEC elbow was screwed into the fitting (part of the nozzle) and was tightened excessively causing the fitting to fracture and subsequently leak slowly causing the oror.
My resolution included calling Lakeside RV Supply that builds the No Muss Flush and talking to a technician (on Saturday!) who explained that the fitting could not be replaced as it was "spin welded" to the tank. His suggestion was to liberly apply an epoxy (Liquid Steel) to cover the cracks and seal the fitting to the tank. If the repair was unsuccessful or a new flush system needed to be installed, the old fitting and epoxy could be sawed off with a hacksaw and a flange style flush system could then be installed.
So far the epoxy repair appears to be working.
