I have the factory installed Sharp 32" LCD system. I also have Motosat HD-SL5 with Directv. Directv and shore cable work just fine. I have not used the on air antenna for a couple of years because it blew apart several years ago so I just installed a new antenna.

The Sharp has two antenna inputs which can be used for air or shore cable hookups interchangeably. I have had one hooked up one to shore cable just fine. However the unit will not receive over the air antenna signals no matter which antenna input I try. I have even tried just a set of rabbit ears with no luck.

What am I missing here?

Jerry,
Do you have the digital converter box for the antenna?

Jerry

If you have the same Sharp I do it does not have a digital tuner which is required to receive off air tv. I have a Hughes direct tv tuner that serves as the digital tuner for off air. Check the back of the direct tv box if it has a coax input called off air it will work for you also. If it does not your other option would be the addition of a digital converter box, new direct tv tuner with off air or a new tv with atsc quam and ntsc tuners which almost all new tv's come with today. Dont forget to scan for available channels

Thanks for the help. A digital converter box did the trick. For some reason I thought the sharp tv had a digital tuner.
