Shopping for Alpine coach
Within the next two weeks I will be traveling to Las Vegas to see a 2005 40' MDTS and to Eugene to see a 2005 40' FDTS. I have had a CC Magna previously and did most of my own work,so I do understand most of the systems. My question , is there anything in particular to watch out for on these coaches? I am aware of the steering box bracket problem, the need to flush the brake system, exhaust manifold cracks, aluminum radiator problem,and the need for regular service on all systems. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

One more thing unique to 05s, the first 40 or so 05s out of the factory had mismatching bolts/holes between the frame and the rear suspension. Do a search on this forum for more details--think the VIN numbers are identified.

My 2005 Avalanche has a manufacture date of July 22, 2004 stamped on the door frame so it probably has the Bolts/holes situation you mentioned. What kind of problem should I expect to have from this? It is still low miles at 12,783 and seems to drive well.

Pivot Bracket
I guess this is directed to EngineerMike. I read thru the referenced thread about the bolts on the pivot bracket so went out to check my coach. (2004 36 FDDS, serial 74941) The brackets are completely different. The bolts are 5/8" (I think).
The nuts measure 15/16ths across the flats. I guess the only way to tell if they should be 3/4" is to pull one out and see if there are any 3/4" holes in the bracket. I'll go out tomorrow and see if I can find the ID plate on the axle carrier. It doesn't match the information in the paperwork that came with the coach.

Bob, according to the info on the other thread you have the earlier design of hanger and 5/8" is the correct size for your rig.

Bob, the reason your bracket does not look like the one in your second picture is that that is the bracket for the AD-200 used on early coaches, like mine. Yours is an ADL series.
