Silverleaf Monitor

HI, Just bought a 2008 34 feds alpine. Sorry to say no engine monitor or silver leaf electronics. Do all newer alpines have a wiring loom to accept the electronic upgrade? If not how hard is it to install one and make all the functions work. I had one on our last 2006 36fdds alpine. It worked great. Thanks mike

You could email Cory Reitz at Silverleaf and ask him: Corey Rietz corey@simply-smarter.com

Welcome to the ownership of an Alpine. Hope to meet you at one of the Alpine Coach Rallies.

To install a Silverleaf it should be a simple plug in. You also need to tap into a switched power source and into the lights so it can change the screen at night. Contact Silverleaf Electronics and they can tell you what you will need to install.

I put the CL400 in my 2005 Alpine. The wiring was easy, just plug the data cable in and supply ignition power. installing the monitor in the dash was a bit of a challenge. Back in 04 it cost me about $6000 including the smart tire module.

Guess it depends on what you mean by: "make it ALL the functions work?" The VMSpc version of SL gives you all the enigine and tranny info--just plug the SL serial port into the chassis monitoring plug under the dash, in front of the passenger seat [9-pin adaptor]. Suppose its a bit bothersome to have to run the PC instead of a dedicated SL monitor, but since the spousal unit is already running GPS and mapping software, splitting/sharing the screen is no biggie...If you are wanting the minute to minute up-date of you holding tank status--that is larger challenge.....
