My owner's manual says nothing about lubricating the slides. Do it? With what?

Basil - I don't believe they are supposed to be lubricated. They are supposed to be kept clean and free of build-up. Occasionally they can be lubricated with, I think, a light lubricant such as WD-40 or a light machine oil but must be wiped clean afterward.

There was an article in Motor Home mag. about care of slides can't remember which article but within the last year. Article stated not to use products that contain petoleum products, which, I suppose would rule out WD-40 and 3-in one oil. Alpine tech said they used silicone spray lube, have to find one that does not contain petroleum products. Don't use one that contains teflon, I did with bad results, ate up the seals and damaged the paint on the bottom of the slide and caused grey marks on the carpet in front of the sofa. 01 Alpine MDS 37' 330 cummings

Doug - Are your refering to the slide rails or the rubber moldings. Petroleum products should not be used on rubber but I am not aware of problems with metal interfaces (slide rails). Just need to be certain that it is cleaned afterward.

Steve S

Sorry about that, should have made more clear. Reference is to the rubber seals. Article goes on to say the not to use products that would leave an oil film on the slide rails.
