Jack , a belated , Welcome to iRV2, only your second post I see.
As others have mentioned here , Newmar uses a slide mechanism of their own design, so your ; 2005 Alpine ; coaches system will be different, as will the procedure for checking the operation and repair.
Need to know if your system is electric , or electric/ hydraulic, and there are several different manufacturers ; HWH, Lippert, and Power Gear; you may have to start your own post in the Alpine forums to get any good help with your problem.

As Dr DaveMA stated check HWH fluid level with Jacks up and slides in.

HWH hydraulic fluid is Dexron Transmission fluid without the red dye.

Welcome to IRV2 and the Alpine Coach Forum.

Jack , I see a moderator has moved your question from the Newmar forum to the Alpine owners , I'm sure the good folks here can provide the answers you need.
