Solar panels

I noticed today that the red led on my solar panel regulator was not on. I read 13.5 volts on the "batt" terminals which has to be house battery voltage. I get no reading on the "array" terminals. Is there a fuse somewhere between the regulator and the 100 watt panel?

I found a 10 amp fuse on the fuse block in the battery compartment but it is good. Could this fuse be for the 10 watt chassis battery panel?

Basil,

13.5 volts tells me it is charging. Voltage would drop to 12.7 (full charge) pretty quickly if not being charged. I Assume you are not on shore power?

What charge controller do you have. Any read outs other than LEDs. (red, green, orange, blinkly) digital?

If you are on shore power, the panels would not be charging unless it is set to charge higher than the shore power charger.

Harold

The OEM solar charge is the same one you get as a prize if you are lucky enough to purchase the correct box of Cracker Jacks. Not exactly high dollar gear.
If you are not on shore power then the excess voltage has to be from the solar panel and the LED is probably burned out.
The 10A fuse is for the 100W panel. If the fuse is good, and you pull it out (while not on shore power) you should read ~12.7V on the house batt's.

Dale Gerstel and Frank Rouse each upgraded to better controllers. Perhaps they will grace us with reasoning as to their specific purchases?????
