Has anyone tried the Sony sound bar system (HTCT100) as a replacement for the OEM home theater system? I realize 1)it's not true surround sound but it sure sounded good when I saw the demo at Best Buy and 2) you would have to buy a dvd/Blue ray in addition.

An alternative would be the Philips Soundbar/DVD Home Theater Model HTS8100 @ Sam's for $497.00. It has the onboard DVD player. It also sounded pretty good. Don't know that it would be practical to retrofit the OEM equipment with this item though.

My '04 came with a Panasonic SCHT650 home theater sound system. When it died, I replaced it with the newer Panasonic SCPT660 home theater sound system. The component is not as high or as deep, and connected to the same speakers, making it a rather easy replacement, since it fit in the same cabinet. The DVD isn't blue ray, but it is true surround sound and pretty good sound for a rather inexpensive system. The plasma screen in my coach is not HD anyway, just ED.
