Speed Bleeders
Can anyone tell me what the part number is for the speed bleeders that fit the Alpine? There seem to be about 20 different ones available.

Dale Olson at this website Oemy's Web Site - would know. Go to the Contact Oemy section at the bottom left and leave him a message.

Dale sent me a pair on spec, but they did not fit the Meritor brakes. The Workhorse W-24 uses the same caliper as the Alpine's w/Meritor 4-piston design, so Dale wanted to sell them to the Workhorse group. I mic'd the bleed screw off mine and sent him the specs, but haven't heard back. that was a few months ago.
If you find the right part#, you'll need 8 of them, as the Meritors each have a left & right (inner/outer) bleed screw.

Mike, I have the Bosch 73mm ZOPS calipers and Dale thought the Speed Bleeder for the 66mm should work. He was correct. The part number is SB71624.

Have contacted Speedbleeders direct. The lady said they have the correct bleeders: front #SB71624 (short) and rear # SB71624L (long). These are for the 2003 etc Alpines. Would someone verify these numbers. I would like to change my break fluid myself.
Just drove down from Alaska via the Cassiar and the road was much improved. Iron Mike

Assuming you have Bosch brakes like mine 71624 will fit. Although the OEM rear bleed screws are longer than the front I fitted 71624 to all 4 wheels. If you have Meritor brakes then as Mike pointed out these won't fit.

While investigating the bleed screw issue I discovered that in fact the '98 Alpine does NOT have the Bosch 73mm pin slide caliper. It has the 2.88in caliper which, although the same size, is a different design. Probably why the '98 was not on the original recall list. I believe the ZOPS caliper was introduced on the '99 model.

Has anyone determined the correct speed bleeders for the Meritor calipers?

Wayne, it appears that Meritor produce 2 versions, one with 7/16"x24 threads (same as the Bendix/Bosch calipers) and the other with M10x1.5mm threads. Check this for details.
I suspect you have the metric thread but to be sure before buying 8 of these I would get an M10x1.5 nut and test it on one of your bleed screws. 1.5mm pitch is so much greater than 24tpi you should not have a problem differentiating. The M10x1.5 speed bleeder is # SB1015.
