Spring Brake Actuator Part #

No questions this time. I just wanted to follow up on a past post of mine "Spring Brake Repair". As I said I did buy a new actuator instead of trying to rebuild mine. The original part number for this actuator was Haldex HR2PT03A. It is no longer available. After lots of phone calls by myself and my parts guy to Haldex and a few truck centers we found a replacement. It's part number is Haldex MA15509. It is dimensionally the same actuator except for the following:

1. It has an extra port near the rear of the actuator for a pressure switch. A pressure switch is included in the box. I didn't use it. I plugged the port.

2. It comes with a different yoke. I used my old one.

3. It has a slightly stiffer spring.

4. It is designed for hydraulic operation. Speaking to phone support at Haldex the support person said he thought a hydraulic actuator could be used in an air application but an air actuator cannot be used in a hydraulic application. He put me in touch with engineering and they confirmed this. The hydraulic actuator has an extra o-ring and a wiper.

The install was straight forward. The brake is working well. It is nice not to hear that low air warning.

That's great!
Thanks for sharing. I rebuilt mine 2 years ago.
