Does the 2006 Alpine 40fd limited need to have the new steering bracket?

Yes--if not already installed--circa 2004 and newer coaches have the potential fatigue/cracking problem with the OEM steering bracket, though older coaches should also be looked at based on age/abuse....however, the after-market bracket upgrades are designed for the 04 and newer coaches....try using the search function on this forum--there are a couple of hours of reading on the topic....

Dennis- you can tell if your rig has been upgraded by checking it against the photo in post#50 in the sticky thread at top of Alpine Forum on Steering Bracket Upgrade. If not upgraded, I recommend it to avoid an issue. You can see the problem in the u-tube inserts at post# 23 in this thread, and see the photos in post#137 to see where the bracket fatigues & tears away from the frame. This applies to all Alpines 2004-2009 except Avalanches.

I just checked Vagabondwater's website & it seems to be working again. You can usually use the Contact Us page at any time this happens on a website, email or phone, and if there is really a live person answering email &/or the phone that's a pretty good sign the joint is still operating.
