Best I can remember, I moved them up so that the original top bolt was installed in the bottom hole in the bracket and then I drilled a new hole for the new top bolt location. This allowed for the aprox max lift on the door while still allowing it to close without jamming the strut.

I have posted a new thread listing the specs, mfg, contact, etc for the curbside top hinged storage bay doors.
