Tank sensor problems
I have persued this problem for several months to no avail. Since we bought this Apex 2006 40' MDTS, last spring, I've been trying to solve the problem of no tank readouts, (except for LP, it works). I remember reading a post sometime back that said that the original sensors were very short-lived, and to get the brass ones. I checked, and the tanks have the brass ones, so I crossed that off my list as a possible cause. Finally, like yesterday, I called Silverleaf to see if they could shed some light on my problem. The tech I talked to was very helpful, and he explained to me that even the better brass bodied sensors probably wouldn't last more that five yrs., and based on my description of the problem, (and I'm guessing that the brass sensors currently in place are probably at least that old), I need new sensors. So I ordered three new ones. $120.00 each. Ca-ching. I suspect this will cure the problem... and I've been chasing possible wiring problems all this time. Just goes to show, start with the simplest and most obvious answers first... duh. BTW, the tech said the reason the LP sensor still works, is because it's a totally different type of sending unit.

Hope that solves the issue.

After many frustrating hours with new sensors and calibrations. I feel the coach bouncing down the road can create pressure shock waves damaging the sensitive sensors. Rather than continue on I added the SeeLevel II, tank monitoring system. It works perfect all the time and I am very happy.

Installed SeeLevel II in 2010, no problems since.

I installed the SeeLevel II 709 in 2007. No problems since. Very consistent readings. Nothing inside the tank to get dirty or be damaged by waves going down the road.

HMMM; I can see the point re: liquid movement changing readings...but readings are only germain when you are sitting still. What's the deal on the SeeLevel? How do they work, how much do they cost, and how difficult are they to install? Also, I kind of like the idea of the info being integrated into the silverleaf. This other system would require a separate readout device somewhere, would it not?
Convince me and I'll send 'em back B/4 I even open the package.
Thanks, Dudley 2006Apex40MDTS

I am only offering alternate solution for the constantly failing pressure transducers (tank level sensor).

someone posted a question re: my tank sensor problem, and I inadvertently erased it. However , in answer to the question, no, new tank sensors did not solve the problem. It must be something else in the Silverleaf system. So now I have invested $350 in parts that did not provide a solution. Is there a SeeLevel system in my future?

Have you gone into the DIAG screens to see if the tank monitor setup has been dumped? The attached pdf might help.

I replaced my sensors about 5 years ago and am having intermittent problems with one of them now. Worked perfect until now. I guess I will call Mark @ Silverleaf and get a replacement sent. If you are doing this, just be sure tanks are empty and as clean as possible.

Re: Janet&Todd...Diagnostics
I didn't even know this screen existed. When I talked to the Silverleaf tech about my problem, he didn't mention this. It may solve my problem. I'm going to try it today. Hope springs eternal.... I'll post the outcome.

It has to be done with empty tanks. Also, I would locate the TM-102 in your tank bay and see if it has power. You can tell if the red light blinks when it's being interrogated by the system. Check the telephone cord connections for corrosion and lastly, if your temp sensor is plugged in, unplug it. There is plenty of discussion about the sensor causing problems with the Silverleaf if it gets wet and shorts out. The TM-102 is well labelled.

Janet&Todd: Re last post; I downloaded the Silverleaf inst. sheet that you posted, and followed the listed instructions, and yes, all tanks were empty. On opening the screen, I found that none of the three tank specs were set up; all were set at "0". So I thought Aha! smoking gun! So I set all three per perameters listed, and still no readout. (I filled the water tank half-way to see if it would work) . Also, after I ran that test, I checked the screen again, and all numbers had reverted to "0". So I called the tech guy at silverleaf, and he said something was interfering with the signal from that control box back in the tank bay. Then I read your new post about the temp sensor. Seems I heard about that sometime back, but had forgotten about it. I'm checking that this morning. Will advise......
