After having our 2001 38' FDDS serviced, engine and generator service, we now have an issue we can't fiqure out.
With the generator running, the batteries are not charging and all circuits that are running through the inverter breaker panel will not work with the generator or shore power, but will work when just the inverter is on alone. Batteries do charge with engine running. Green light on the inverter shows OK, but green LED on echo charger is blinking. When reading manual this only says to mean that battery voltage is below 13 volts which is not enough information to fiqure out the problem. I fiqure this has got to be a simple reset fix of some kind or just a coincidence of a failure of some other part. Any ideas?

You might want to check the transfer switch. The switch is located in the basement under the kitchen floor. I had to replace my transfer switch 2 years ago. You're lucky yours has lasted so long. It is the weak part of that 50 amp circuit.

Fred,
Did you have to replace the whole power switch box or parts of it? Thanks for responding!! Heath

Hello & Welcome Heath:

The company that was producing the transfer switch in 2001 for WRV has gone out of business and it would be easier to replace the entire unit then try to find parts.

I have replaced the power transfer switch with a Paralax 5070 model(much cleaner install than todd model-no wire nuts needed) but I still have the same issue, any other ideas on problem would be greatly appreciated. thanks again

Had a similar problem with the Onan 2k watt inverter. No AC for the circuts fed through the inverter while on shore or generator power. Tech @ Guaranty indicated he removed DC feed (lifted positive lead) from battery bank to inverter to reset the inveter memory. Whatever was done resolved the problem and that was one yr ago.

Thanks for info, just went out and removed DC FEED and to hopefully reset inverter but it didn't work . Spoke with Dave and Mark at factory and the belief is the switch inside the inverter is possibly bad. Anybody had experience with removing and sending off for repair or should I just take coach to repair facility? It seems every time I try the latter I get more frustrated than if I just took care of things myself.

We had the same problem this summer and it was a fuse inside of the inverter. Check on that - they found it at the factory, took them about 2 hours to run it down, but that would be the place to start.

Thanks for info, I removed the inverter from the coach and found fuses to be OK. I called Xantrex and found an authorized service facility in Greenville Al.,spoke with "Bill" and described issues and he stated he could check it out but they were really behind right now(about 6 weeks )I stated I could bring it to him and bascilly begged because I have to leave for Louisiana tomorrow. The man said bring it to me today and I'll get it back to you today.Absolutetely awesome-280 mile round trip and inverter is back in and all is well with coach now, the front board in the inverter was the issue(this is the AC board)possibly went bad from a spike in power from generator or a lightning strike, part was just barely burned.
I hope I'm not getting this guy in a bad spot by telling this story because of how backed up he is on other repairs for people, but his service was incredible and got me out of possibly having to spend many nights in hotel rooms over the next couple of weeks, for which I am exteremely greatful.
Thanks for everyone's help
