I have experienced so transmissio hunting when pulling hills when not in cruise control, and don't have the problem when I am in Cruise control..they say it may be a Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and it is not an Allison or Cummins part. any one know who made them and where to get them if I need one? 2008 w/425 Cummins..

Mel- I emailed you a PDF file from Teleflex with their contact info & installation instructions. I believe the Throttle Position Sensor is their gizmo or supplied to and thru them as part of the assembly. If it appears that is operating erratically and getting a replacement is an issue, we used to drill a small hole in the GM TPS body, fill it w/contact cleaner & drain several times, then let it dry out fully and try again. The rheostat can get gummed up.

I also sent the file to Linda to post on the Tech Library page for future reference.

We have been driving in the mountains of Colorado for the past several weeks and have driven many mountain miles with our 400 hp ISL. Our transmission will upshift more than desirable but probably for maximum fuel economy and to keep the engine at its max torque. My solution is to manually downshift to avoid excessive shifting and also to keep the temp down. I try to select a gear to keep the engine RPM around 1800 to 2000. The reason you do not experience this excessive shifting is because the cruise control is probably set to a speed higher than the engine can maintain which results in full throttle.

I do not see a down shifting of gears but a slight feeling of something and not a shift. I do shift manually usually when needed and I feel this motion only when NOT in Cruise control and Allison says that the TPS is not in the picture when in CC...I am in contact now with a Tech from Kongsberg Automotive who Teleflex Morse sold their Automotive part to. Hope when he calls back I will have more info to post. Have an appointment with Cummins NW next week.
